2027: Kwankwaso host Peter Obi, Makinde, Dickson in Kano

The leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has hosted prominent political figures including the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, former Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson, and former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, in Kano, in what observers have described as a significant political alignment..

The meeting, held at Kwankwaso’s residence, sparked conversations about possible alliances ahead of future political engagements, as leaders across party lines continue consultations on the nation’s direction.

This is just as Obi promised to bring back the enterprises associated with the ancient city of Kano.

Obi was accompanied by the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, as part of activities marking the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.

Speaking during the visit, Obi said the occasion was to felicitate Kwankwaso and honour him during the festive period.m

“I’m here to felicitate with you on the occasion of the Sallah and to pay my respects to our leader,” he said.

Obi also used the opportunity to assure residents of Kano of efforts aimed at reviving the state’s economic base, particularly its industrial sector.

He said plans were underway to restore the productivity of key industrial hubs in the state, including Bompai and the Sharada industrial layouts, as well as revive notable institutions such as the Bank of the North.

“We want to change Kano. We want to build a new Kano. What we want to do is to make sure that we bring back the powers of Kano and restore its industries,” he added.

He, however, stressed that the visit was not politically motivated but intended to celebrate the Sallah festival with the people.

“Today is not about politics; it is about celebrating Sallah. May Almighty Allah bless all of you,” Obi said.

However, the event was witnessed by an unprecedented number of loyalists of Kwankwaso, who trooped out to give a rousing welcome to the former Kano State governor and other important personalities who graced the occasion.
