The village head of Ungwan Babangida and 14 others were reportedly kidnapped by suspected bandits in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The incident occurred on Thursday night, according to sources in the community.

Confirming the attack, the youth leader of Dokan Karji, Aminu Khalid, told reporters on Friday that the gunmen invaded Ungwan Babangida at midnight, wielding sophisticated weapons and shooting sporadically before abducting their victims.

“Among the victims kidnapped in Ungwan Babangida were three women and nine men, including the village head, identified as Babangida Sojiji,” Khalid said.

He added that two of those abducted were laborers from Jigawa State and Ikara Local Government Area of Kaduna State who had come for farming activities.

This attack came just 48 hours after four farmers were abducted in Libere community, also in Kauru Local Government Area.

“Kauru communities need serious military actions against these bandits who have occupied many villages and killed breadwinners in gruesome ways. The Federal Government and security operatives must intensify efforts to cripple the activities of these criminals who have made life difficult for villagers,” Khalid emphasized.

He also commended local vigilante groups for their proactive efforts, noting that they had successfully foiled several kidnapping attempts in nearby villages.
