In a disheartening incident, the sacrificial ram of the Chief Imam of Mista Ali community in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, Imam Abdulkadir, was stolen during a heavy downpour on the eve of Eid-el-Kabir.
Malam Haruna Yaqub, a fellow Imam in the community, revealed the theft during his sermon following the two Raka’at prayers. He condemned the act as highly insensitive and indicative of a lack of fear of God.
“The ram, which our Chief Imam had purchased specifically for the sacrifice, was stolen at night. We are truly shocked by this incident. It’s alarming that people would stoop so low as to steal a ram intended for a religious sacrifice,” Yaqub lamented.
Yaqub urged the community to be more God-fearing and to avoid engaging in theft or any form of criminality. He stressed the importance of repentance and adhering to the path of Allah, reminding the congregants that everyone will be held accountable for their actions both in this life and the hereafter.
“It is high time people repented and took the path of Allah. It is not too late. People should stop committing bad things and act according to Allah’s commandments,” he added.
The theft has cast a shadow over the festivities, highlighting the need for greater moral integrity and community vigilance.
