Courts restrains security operatives from arresting Aminu Ado Bayero

A Federal High Court sitting in Kano, has restrained the Police and other security agencies from arresting, detaining, threatening, intimidating, harassing the deposed emir of Kano Aminu Ado-Bayero.

Ado-Bayero, through his counsel M L Yusufari SAN, moved the motion exparte order dated May 27.

The respondents are: Attorney General of the Federation, Attorney General Kano, Nigeria Police, Inspector General of Police, Commissioner of Police Kano, State Security Service, NSCDC, Nigeria Army, Nigerian Navy and Nigerian Airforce.

Justice S. A. Amobeda, ordered the respondents to ensure all rights and privileges of Ado-Bayero be given to him in the interest of justice and maintenance of peace in Kano state.

Amobeda also restrained the 3, 4 and 5th respondents and all other respondents from denying the applicant to use his official residence and palace at the Emir’s Palace, Kofar Kudu.

“As well as enjoyment of all rights and privileges accrued to him by virtue of being Emir of Kano and to evicting anything, anybody residing within the palace illegally pending the hearing and the determination of the originating summons” Amobeda said

He adjourned the matter until June 4, for definite hearing.

NAN reports that a Federal High Court in Kano, Presided over by Justice A M Liman, issued an order stopping the state government from enforcing the Kano State Emirate Council Repeal Law.

The State House of Assembly on May 23, dissolved all the four newly created Emirate council’s in the state.
