The Federal Government of Nigeria has revealed that preparations are in top-gears to reintroduce social intervention programs and also clear N-power backlog as part of efforts to combat unemployment among the youths in the country.
The Honorable Minster for State, Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu made this known in Kano Yesterday during an official visit to kano State to check on the wellbeing of the end bad governance protesters who were recently released from detention.
According to the Minister, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has lifted the suspension of their activities as part of efforts to alleviate the suffering of the youths in the country and also reduce to the barest minimum the rate of unemployment among them.
“The President has giving us the nod to go ahead with our humanitarian activities and all backlog payment will be cleared soon, this include N-Power beneficiaries and all others who rendered services and have not been settled.
Also, the portal will be opened to enroll new applicants for the scheme and other social intervention programs such as unconditional cash transfer, traders’ money and market money transfer will continue as part of plans to reduce poverty among our youth”.
Sununu, further stated that the Tinubu led administration through his Ministry has identified three key sectors through which job opportunities will be created to further reduce the burden of unemployment in the country which include; farming, solar power and auto mechanics.
We have also concluded plans to provide employment for the youth through farming, power solar generation and auto mechanic.
These three sectors are very critical in the development of every nation and we have demonstrated capability in the past and we want to explore these sectors to lift our teaming youths out of their present conditions to better their living condition”, he added.
