A human rights lawyer, Abba Hikima, has filed a lawsuit against the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, IGP and 4 others over alleged violations of the fundamental rights of vulnerable Nigerians
The defendants include the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike; the Inspector General of Police; the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS); the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC); and the Attorney General of the Federation.
The case, filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday under case number FHC/ABJ/CS/1749/2024, is on alleged mistreatment of vulnerable groups such as homeless individuals, petty traders, and beggars within the FCT.
Hikima in the originating motion accused the defendants of engaging in actions that violate Sections 34, 35, 41, and 42 of the Nigerian Constitution (as amended).

He alleged arbitrary arrests and detentions without evidence of any crime, harassment, extortion, and inhumane treatment, which he argues are unconstitutional and degrading.
