Kano Correspondent Chapel Gets New Excos

The Kano state correspondent chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists has elected new executives.

Adewale Murtala of the guardian newspaper emerged winner after securing 17 votes to defeat Soron Dinki of this Day Newspaper who secured 12 votes.

Bala Yusuf of the Voice of Nigeria emerged as vice chairman, Salim Umar of Daily Trust as Secretary,Bashir Bello of Vanguard emerged as treasurer while Ramatu Garba of News Agency of Nigeria was elected as the financial secretary.

Others elected include Longtong Yakubu of the Leadership newspaper who emerged as the auditor while Salihu Aliyu of the Voice of Nigeria emerged as the Assistant secretary.

In his acceptance speech, the newly elected chairman pledged to carry all members along, noting that his emergence marked the beginning of a new era and paradigm shift at the chapel.

He promised to take the chapel to a greater great prioritising members welfare and capacity development.

In his remarks, the NUJ chairman Suleiman Dederi who was represented by his vice, Mustapha Gambo thanked the chapel for conducting a successful election.

He congratulated the elected members and urged the winners to be accountable and carry all along, making the state a vibrant one.
