Kano State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to partner with Non Governmental organizations in its effort to boosting the health sector.
The Commissioner of Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, disclosed this at the flag-off and laying foundation ceremony for the construction of clinic at Rijiyar Lemo Primary Health Care Center in Fgge local government initiated By Mercy Corps, USAID and Community Action Committee.
The Commissioner represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Hajiya Amina Aliyu Musa, highlighted on the commitment so far made under the present administration, stressing that Government will continue to give more priority attention to the health sector.
The Commissioner commended the effort of the Mercy Corp and other partners under the umbrella of the Community Initiative to Promote Peace(CIPP) in the area for their contribution toward the success of the program in the area.

In his remarks, Chief of Party of the Community Initiative to Promote Peace (CIPP) Mr. David Gatare spoke at length on the activities of CIPP which, according to him, is aimed at preventing violent conflict in the most at-risk communities across Katsina, Kaduna, Plateau, Kogi, Kano and Benue states in Nigeria’s North-West and Middle Belt regions, adding that CIPP works with community leaders, women, government officials and state-level actors to improve their ability to peacefully manage disputes.
Mr. Gatare further stated that CIPP also works to strengthen Early Warning and Early Response (EWER) mechanisms for timely response to violent conflict, and facilitate collaboration among communities with government agencies, civil service organizations and local leaders to address root causes of conflict.
He therefore call on the community in the area to always live in peace with one another and stressed the need for the state government as well as the community to ensure that the facility if completed will be maintained at all time.
In his remarks via internet, Muktar Shittu from USAID also thank Kano State Government for the support and cooperation rendered in realizing the objectives for the establishment of the clinic and urged people in the area to make judicious use of the facility.
In his welcome address, the Conflict Technical Advisor CIPP Mr. Godwin Okoko used the opportunity to welcome all and thank all the communities for coming out en-mass during the laying foundation ceremony.
Earlier in his remarks, the Council Chairman of Fagge local government Alhaji Ahmed Ibrahim Muhammad commended the effort of Mercy Corps, USAID and other partners who supported the program, promising that staff and other relevant working material will be provided for the smooth takeoff of the facility when completed.
In his vote of thanks, the District Head of Fagge Alhaji Mahmud Ado Bayero commended both Mercy Corps and USAID for the construction of the clinic at Rijiyar Lemo which, according to him, will benefit other neighbouring communities.
He called on the state government to provide staff and relevant working material for the smooth operation of the facility after completion.
Later, the District Head presented a commendation letter to the Chief of Party CIPP Mr. David Gatare for the commitment and dedication towards the realization of the project at Fagge Local Government area.
