Man dies while watching football at Lagos beer parlour

A man tragically passed away while watching a football match at a beer parlour in Lagos, according to the Lagos State Police Command.

The incident was confirmed by SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday.

The beer parlour owner, whose identity has not been disclosed, reported the incident to the Elere Police Division on Wednesday around 7:00 p.m.

According to the report, the unidentified man, believed to be in his 50s, arrived at the beer parlour on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway around 6:15 p.m. He joined other customers in watching television while some patrons enjoyed their drinks.

At some point, the man appeared to have fallen asleep in his chair. When attempts were made to wake him, it was discovered that he was unresponsive.

Detectives from the division arrived at the scene and confirmed that the man was deceased, with no signs of violence on his body.

His remains have been taken to the Mainland General Hospital Mortuary in Yaba for an autopsy. Efforts to locate his family are ongoing.
