The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has rolled out special train arrangements to help passengers travel more easily during the Eid-el-Fitr (Sallah) celebrations.
In a statement signed by its Chief Public Relations Officer, Callistus Unyimadu, the NRC said it has added extra trips and boosted capacity on key routes to handle the expected rush of travellers.
On the Lagos–Ibadan corridor, three special trips will run today, Thursday, March 19, from both Ebute Metta (Lagos) and Moniya (Ibadan) stations. After today, services will return to the normal timetable.
For the Abuja–Kaduna route, two trips are scheduled for today, Thursday. From Friday, March 20, through Monday, March 23, three daily trips will operate to give more options during the festive period.
The NRC has also partnered with the Osun State Government to run the Imole Train Service from Lagos to Osogbo. This special service will provide free transportation to indigenes of Osun State as part of the state’s Sallah celebrations.
Other routes will continue as usual: The Warri–Itakpe service will keep its three-times-weekly schedule, with Thursdays reserved for maintenance. The Port Harcourt–Aba line will maintain normal operations without changes.
The Corporation assured all passengers of safe and reliable journeys. It advised travellers to plan their trips early, arrive at stations on time, and follow all security and ticketing rules.
The NRC also wished Muslim faithful across Nigeria a happy and peaceful Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
