Nigerian music sensation Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, has officially parted ways with YBNL Nation, the record label owned by rapper Olamide.

Speculation about Asake’s exit had been circulating for months, but he confirmed the news by releasing his latest single, Why Love, under his newly founded record label, Giran Republic.

This move marks a significant shift in his career as he transitions to full independence in the music industry.

Despite the split, there appears to be no bad blood between Asake and Olamide. Earlier this year, he paid tribute to his former label boss with the release of Military, effectively shutting down rumors of a fallout.

Asake joined YBNL Nation in February 2022 and quickly rose to fame with multiple chart-topping hits, solidifying his place among Nigeria’s top artists.

In July 2022, he secured a distribution deal with Empire, a partnership that continues even after his departure from YBNL.
