Tanker Explosion Claims scores of lives in Niger State

Report from Niger State, North Central Nigeria says, tanker explosion has occurred, on Saturday, at Dikko Junction along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway in Gurara Local Government Area of the State.

The incident, which reportedly happened around 10 a.m., resulted in the deaths of several people and left many others injured.

According to the report, the explosion took place when some people gathered to collect the spilled content from the overturned tanker.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the exact number of casualties but the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) commander in the area, Kumar Tsukwam, confirmed the incident, noting that investigations are ongoing, Leadership reports.

Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umar Bago, through his Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, expressed concern over the frequent occurrence of such accidents in the state.
