Four dead, others injured in Kano building collapse

An uncompleted three-storey building that collapsed on yesterday evening in the Abedi area of Sabon Gari, Kano, have killed at least 4 persons trapping several others beneath the rubble.

It was gathered that many of the victims had taken shelter in the structure to escape a heavy downpour before the incident occurred around 5pm on Sunday in the midst of the rainfall.

As at this morning, four bodies have been discovered from the scene with over 15 people rescued so far and taken to Murtala Muhammad Hospital for treatment.

Also, eyewitnesses at the scene alleged that the building had exhibited signs of structural weakness from early stages of construction, with visible bending during the first and second deckings.

Rescue operation is still ongoing by emergency personnel which include; the State Emergency Management Agency SEMA, Federal Road Safety Corps, Police and other collaborating agencies of Government.
