Ahead 2027, Kogi LGA PDP Chairman, 500 Other Members Join APC, Says Gov. Ododo, Engr. Gegu’s Leadership Style, Reasons For Defection.
Ahead of the 2027 general election, the remnants of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party in Kogi LGA of Kogi State, have collapsed into the ruling All Progressives Congress, citing the leadership qualities of Gov. Usman Ahmed Ododo and the Commissioner For Solid Minerals and Natural Resources Engr. Bashiru Gegu as reasons for dumping the PDP.
The defectors from the PDP into the APC, were led by Alhaji Abdullahi Zakeri, the PDP Chairman, Kogi LGA, other big wigs of the party, numbering over 500 at a well attended ceremony held at the Central Primary School, Koton Karfe.
Receiving the defectors, Engr. Bashiru Gegu described the coming into the party by the PDP Members as the end of PDP in Kogi LGA, explaining that the positive Leadership style administration of of Gov. Ododo is noticeable and impactful in the area.
According to Engr. Bashiru, “Because of the leadership and developmental strides of Gov. Ododo, PDP in Kogi LGA, led by it Chairman and other Members have collapsed into the APC”.
Engr. Bashiru listed the prompt payment of salaries, pension even before the end of every month, as what has made the members of the PDP to see the light and have decided to join the APC.
” We in Kogi LGA are appreciative of what Gov. Ododo is doing and as a way of appreciating the Governor, the PDP Members and those of other political parties have resolved to join the APC”.
“Today, the PDP and other political parties have collapsed into the APC for Gov. Ahmed Ododo and President Ahmed Bola Tinubu ahead 2027. We want to commend the courage of the PDP members and assure them that this is the beginning of a collective working together to better Kogi LGA”.
According to Engr. Bashiru Gegu, “with all the defection into the APC by the remnants of the opposition political parties and with the APC leaders now working as a united front, it is safe to say the APC, even though we will continue doing what is right and desired by the people, sleep with our two eyes closed, because 2027 Election is going to be a resounding victory and a walk over”.
” The election victory will be landslide for the APC and we will deliver 100% for the APC in 2027. I can assure you for free that Kogi LGA is APC and Gov. Ododo and President Tinubu in Kogi LGA is APC. With the recent development where the remnants of the APC has collapsed into the APC, Kogi LGA is a no go area for any other political party.
” In Kogi local Government, the only coalition you hear is the coalition of other political parties joining the APC because of the infrastructure development, human capital development that our people have witnessed under the administration of Gov Ododo.
” What we have in Kogi is the coalition of good development and transformation of what Gov. Ododo has been able to achieve in the area. Presently, Kogi LGA is witnessing a coalition of healthcare development, with several hospitals doting the whole landscape of the local Government.
“In Kogi LGA what you have is coalition of good roads, in going construction of schools, empowerment , touching the lives of the downtrodden, engaging widows and orphans to be self reliant and self sustaining, youth engagement, support for the elderly in our community, supply of Agricultural inputs for our farmers and above all the coalition of security, that has made our people sleep with their two eyes closed and an enabling environment that has made our people go about their businesses unmolested, as made possible by Gov Ododo is what we are witnessing, that has made the opposition party to no longer exist in the Local Government”.
Also in his remarks, Sen. Ado Shaibu, described the defection as massive and coming at a better time, praised Gov. Ododo and Engr. Bashiru Gegu for the milestone.
Similarly, Barr. Tanko Mohammed, Chairman, Kogi State Civil Service Commission, described the defection as end of the matter for the 2027 election, explaining that the APC will win with a resounding margin.
In his remarks, the Member, Representing, Kogi Koton Karfe State Constituency in the State Assembly, Hon. Aliyu Idris Maikudi, said the APC in Kogi LGA owe the defection to the good works of Gov. Ododo and Engr Bashiru Gegu, described the Commissioner as a natural leader the people of Kogi LGA are proud of.
The Council Chairman of Kogi LGA and his Lokoja counterpart, Comr. Abdullahi Adanu, said with the feat achieved by the Kogi LGA APC, described the 2027 election as a done deal, praised Engr. Bashiru for his good works.
Speaking on their motivation to join the APC, Alhaji Abdullahi Zakeri, Kogi LGA PDP Chairman and Hon. Abu Sule, said the politics of development currently being displayed by Engr. Bashiru, is reason for their defection, said wherever the Commissioner turns to henceforth in politics will decide their political direction.
The defectors praised Gov. Ododo for the appointment of Engr. Bashiru Gegu, said the area has never in history witnessed the kind of politics of development he has displayed, said they are the remnants of PDP in the area, congratulated the APC for the feat thus far.
Highlights of the defection ceremony was the presentation of broom and APC party flags to the leadership representing over 500 PDP members in Kogi LGA.
