2027: Pantami joins PDP, emerges governorship candidate

A significant development has emerged in Gombe State politics as former Minister of Communications, Isa Ali Pantami, has officially moved to the PDP and secured the party’s governorship ticket for the 2027 election.

Pantami was confirmed as the PDP candidate on Tuesday after receiving endorsement through a voice vote by party delegates, having contested unopposed. Chairman of the party’s electoral committee, Gregory Yenlong, announced him as the successful candidate during the exercise held in Gombe.

The development signals a new political direction for Pantami, who had earlier sought the APC governorship ticket but stepped away from the race after expressing reservations about the conduct of the primary election process.
