The Federal Government has been urged not to politicise the ongoing security challenges facing the country but to intensify efforts towards securing the release of all kidnapped victims and restoring peace across affected communities.

The call was made by various Christian clergymen and worshippers in Kano during the observance of the “Black Sunday” declared by the Christian Association of Nigeria.

The special prayer session was organised to seek divine intervention and call for the immediate release of victims currently being held captive by bandits and other criminal elements across the country.

Speaking during church services, Reverend Dr Armstrong Ajayi expressed concern over the worsening state of insecurity, noting that the persistent attacks, kidnappings and killings have continued to threaten the lives and livelihoods of innocent Nigerians

He stressed that insecurity should not be treated as a political issue, but rather as a national concern requiring collective action from government, security agencies, religious leaders and citizens.

Worshippers who participated in the prayer sessions also called on leaders at all levels to prioritise the protection of lives and property, while expressing hope that the victims in captivity would regain their freedom soon.
