Gov. Abba Yusuf presents N350BN 2024 Budget to state assembly

Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf presented the 2024 Appropriation Bill of N350 billion to the State House of Assembly on Friday. He promised to block possible leakages to ensure prudence, accountability, and transparency.

The governor described the proposed budget as a “Budget of Restoration and Transformation” and emphasized that it is a product of full cooperation and dedication to changing the narrative in the state.

Yusuf noted that the total recurrent expenditure stood at N357.9 billion, while internally expected revenue amounted to N100.7 billion. Capital receipts were expected to be N39.265 billion, marking a 12.53 percent decrease from 2023, which was N4.9 billion higher.

He further explained that the opening balance was N10 billion, revenue recurrent expenditure was N134.4 billion, representing 38 percent. Salaries for civil servants and political office holders, along with allowances and overhead, would amount to N85.739 billion.

The governor noted that human capital development, promoting the general welfare of the Kano people, ensuring the security of lives, provisions of strategic health, achieving food security, creating opportunity for job creation, and strengthening inter and nongovernmental partnerships, are cardinal principles of his government.
