The Kogi State Government has ordered the temporary closure of schools across the state following heightened security concerns in some areas.

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo gave the directive as a precautionary measure to safeguard pupils, students, and teachers.

The development was confirmed in a statement issued to Curious Television News by the State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo.

According to Fanwo, the decision was informed by credible intelligence reports and the need to reinforce security measures around educational institutions.

He stressed that the action was not taken out of panic, but as a demonstration of responsible and proactive leadership, noting that the government prefers prevention to reacting to avoidable incidents.

The Commissioner added that Governor Ododo has directed relevant security agencies and key stakeholders to urgently put measures in place to ensure schools resume academic activities once the security situation is assessed as safe.
