The Baptist Theological Seminary, Kaduna, Kaduna state (BTSK) has gotten a new president, Associate Professor Babatunde Adekunle Ogunlana.
BTSK is a theological institution owned by the Nigerian Baptist Convention (NBC). Founded in 1948, its primary purpose is to “provide sound theological education and pastoral training for those aspects of the Christian Ministry, be an excellent missional theological institution training for transformational leadership in church and society and provide education for life, spiritual maturity, and service for God-called messengers of the Master.”
Prof Ogunlana, an Old Testament scholar, hails from Ogede compound, Okelerin, Ogbomoso, Oyo state, and started work in the Baptist Theological Seminary Kaduna in 2003.
His parents Mr. Amos Bolaji and Mrs. Ruth Adeduntan Ogunlana, are both late.
Rev’d Ogunlana is a pioneer student of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso, where he obtained B.Tech in Mathematics. He is also an alumnus of Adeniran Memorial Grammar School (AMGS) and Okelerin Baptist Primary School, Ogbomoso. He bagged Master of Divinity in Theology at The Nigerian Baptist Theological Seminary Ogbomoso and obtained other higher degrees.
He will be taking over in July from Rev’d Dr Manasseh Haruna Panpe, who has been serving as Acting President. His appointment was ratified at the Nigerian Baptist Convention -in- Session, which ended in Abuja Thursday.
Ogunlana will serve a tenure of five years.
Other functionaries were appointed at the Convention including a new President of the NBC, Rev’d Dr David Olusola Idowu, pastor of Ajayi Dahunsi Baptist Church, Lagos.
Also, a new Director of Global Missions Board, Rev’d Ify Royal Okwudiri, was appointed.
