The Rotary club of Kano has donated 20 units of sewing and grinding machines to less privileged members of the society in Kano State.
The donation is part of the District grant empowerment project which saw 10 units of sewing machines and 10 units of grinding machines aimed at empowering the less privileged.
17 women got grinding and sewing machines while three males got sewing machines respectively.
Speaking the Immediate past District Governor, Rotarian Arc Sagab Ahmad Sani said the gesture is part of Rotary’s initiatives to reach out to the society with support economically.
“We want the beneficiaries to put this to use so that they will be of benefit to them. The essence of this is to get the multiplier effect whereby wealth will be created.
“We believe that if people are empowered economically, then there will be peace. Where there is poverty there will be problems with peace. It’s part of our seven areas of focus, everything we do is tilting towards ensuring and maintaining peace in the world,” he said.
On his part, the District Head of Nassarawa Local Government Area, Kabiru Tijjani Hashim who was represented by the Village head of Hotoro South, Ashiru Abubakar Yusuf commended Rotary for the gesture as well urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the donated items so as to help themselves, families and communities.
