Police Confirm Five Officers Killed in Bauchi Ambush

The Bauchi State Police Command has announced the death of five of its personnel following an ambush laid by armed bandits in the Darazo Local Government Area of the state.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Ahmad Wakil, said the officers were on a peace-restoration mission in connection with a farmers-herders conflict in Sabon Sara village when they came under heavy attack.

 

According to him, the bandits opened fire on the police team, leading to a fierce exchange of gunfire. Two officers sustained injuries during the encounter, while several of the attackers were neutralised.

“Tragically, the ambush resulted in the death of the following officers: DSP Ahmad Muhammad (SID), ASP Mustapha Muhammad (10 PMF), Inspector Amarhel Yunusa (10 PMF), Inspector Idris Ahmed (10 PMF), and Corporal Isah Muazu (AKU),” Wakil stated.

He added that the Command has intensified operations in the axis to apprehend the fleeing suspects and restore calm in the affected communities.

Wakil extended the condolences of the Commissioner of Police to the families of the fallen officers and assured the public that the police would not relent in safeguarding lives and property across the state.
