Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has ordered the immediate shutdown of Stephrica Guest Palace Hotel located in Kureken Sani, Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano, following complaints from residents over alleged activities at the facility.

The directive was issued through the Kano Emirate Council under the leadership of the Galadiman Kano, Aliyu Ibrahim Matawalle, after the council reviewed petitions submitted by members of the community.

According to the Emirate Council, the decision was reached after careful consideration of concerns raised by residents regarding the operations of the hotel.

The council said the move was aimed at addressing community grievances and maintaining peace and order in the area.

However, a source within the Emirate Council disclosed that the closure followed an investigation into complaints lodged by residents of Kureken Sani.

In addition to ordering the closure of the facility, the Emir directed the owner of the hotel to convert the property into either a school or a hospital to better serve the needs of the community.

The council noted that such a transformation would provide long-term benefits to residents, particularly in the areas of education and healthcare services.

Reacting to the development, Chairman of the Kureken Sani Community Development Association, Malam Muhammad Sabi’u Yahaya, praised the Emirate Council for what he described as a timely intervention.

He said members of the community had earlier petitioned the Emirate over alleged suspicious movements involving minors in and out of the hotel premises.

“We are grateful to the Emirate Council for listening to our complaints and taking appropriate action after due investigation,” Yahaya said.

The closure has generated widespread discussion within the community, with residents awaiting further action regarding the implementation of the Emirate’s directive and the future use of the property.
