The Minister of Works, Engr. David Nweze Umahi, has commended Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, for his visionary leadership and commitment to executing people-oriented infrastructure projects aimed at improving the lives of residents.
Umahi gave the commendation during the official commissioning of the completed Audu Bako and Nasarawa Hospital–Racecourse dualised roads in Kano metropolis.
The two projects are equipped with modern streetlights and drainage systems designed to improve road safety, enhance urban mobility and strengthen flood management.
The Minister noted that the projects would improve access to critical public facilities, ease traffic congestion, reduce transportation difficulties and stimulate commercial activities across the metropolis.
He also praised the Kano State Government for investing in infrastructure that addresses the needs of residents and supports the state’s development priorities.
The commissioning of the two state road projects coincided with the inauguration of a 30.58-kilometre stretch of the Abuja–Kaduna–Zaria–Kano Dual Carriageway, extending from Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital to Karfi and Kunkumi.
The federal road project, covering sections of the 118-kilometre highway, was inaugurated at a ceremony held in Tamburawa on Wednesday, with the Minister of Works, Governor Yusuf and other dignitaries in attendance.
The projects underscore the importance of collaboration between the Federal and Kano State Governments in expanding road infrastructure, improving regional connectivity, reducing road-related risks and boosting economic activities.
The Kano State Government says its continued investment in infrastructure is aimed at improving mobility, facilitating trade and enhancing the overall quality of life of residents.
