The Benue State Police Command has launched a manhunt for the killers of the Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Benue State chapter, Ardo Rabo Mohammed, and his associate, Yakubu Isa, following their fatal attack in Otukpo Local Government Area.

The victims were reportedly ambushed by suspected gunmen while returning from a security meeting along the Okwudu-Ogoli Road in Otukpo.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Udeme Edet, said the Commissioner of Police, CP Cletus C.N. Nwadiogbu, condemned the killings, describing them as a senseless criminal act capable of undermining ongoing peace and security efforts in the state.

The police commissioner expressed sympathy to the families of the deceased and assured residents that those behind the attack would be brought to justice.

Edet said the command had commenced a full-scale investigation into the incident, with tactical and intelligence teams deployed to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.

According to the statement, the command remains committed to ensuring that those responsible are arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

The commissioner urged residents to remain calm, avoid taking the law into their own hands, and refrain from spreading unverified information that could heighten tensions.

He also appealed to members of the public with useful information to assist the investigation by reporting to the nearest police station or contacting the command through its emergency lines.
