The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has accused the Vice Presidential candidate of the NDC, Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, of allegedly taking 69 nomination forms for various political offices in Kano, thereby creating confusion and uncertainty within the party.
Speaking at a press briefing at the NUJ Press Centre, Kano, the Chairman of the PRP Northwest Stakeholders Forum, Abdulkadir Guzasaid that after collecting money from various office aspirants, the party went to Kaduna for a retreat and subsequent form purchases, only to be informed that all the forms had been taken by Kwankwaso.
“I was in Kaduna as State Chairman of the PRP to participate in the party retreat and also obtain forms for my people who were contesting various offices in Kano and who had paid for them, but I was told that someone had purchased all the forms,” he said.
Musa Guza added that, “When I pressed further to know who the person was, the National Secretary of our party told me it was Kwankwaso, and I asked why. They said they were in talks with him for his possible defection to our party.”
However, he noted that after several days with no indication that Kwankwaso was defecting to the PRP, it became obvious that he was allegedly engaged in a mischievous mission against the party, as one cannot be in another party while holding another party’s forms.
The chairman further alleged that Kwankwaso did not only take the party’s forms but also those of other parties, adding that the situation had created uncertainty among aspirants.
“That is why we are taking legal action against him should he refuse to surrender our forms before INEC closes the deadline for submission of candidates’ names,” he said.
He added that hundreds of people willing to contest under the party are now confused about their political future.
