The Transmission Company of Nigeria has announced that electricity supply will be temporarily disrupted in some parts of the Federal Capital Territory on Saturday as it undertakes routine maintenance at its Katampe Transmission Substation.

The company’s Abuja Region said the planned preventive maintenance will take place at the Katampe 132/33 KiloVolt (kV) Transmission Substation between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

TCN’s General Manager, Public Affairs, Mrs Ndidi Mbah, disclosed the development in a statement issued in Abuja on Saturday.

She explained that the maintenance exercise is aimed at servicing critical equipment at the facility to ensure reliable operations.

According to Mbah, the exercise will enable TCN’s technical team to carry out maintenance on the substation’s transformer and related equipment.

“Consequently, Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will be unable to off-take bulk power for distribution to customers in parts of Mpape, Maitama, Jahi, Life Camp,

“Others are Kado Fish Market, Idu-Karmo, and their environs during the maintenance period,” she said.

Mbah appealed to residents in the affected communities for understanding, noting that the temporary outage is necessary to enhance the efficiency and reliability of the transmission infrastructure.

She added that the company regrets any inconvenience the scheduled outage may cause customers.

She further stated that equipment maintenance remains vital to ensuring the continued optimal performance of power infrastructure.
