Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved establishment of Integrity and Compliance Desk Officers across ministries, departments and agencies to strengthen transparency, accountability and service delivery.

The approval was announced in a statement issued on Friday by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Open Government Partnership (OGP) and Accountability Policies, Musaddiq Kabir Adam.

According to the statement, the initiative will be coordinated through the OGP office and is aimed at institutionalising ethical standards, strengthening compliance mechanisms, promoting integrity in public administration and enhancing efficient service delivery across the state.

It said the reform reflected the administration’s commitment to openness, transparency, accountability and responsiveness, in line with its broader governance agenda and the principles of the Open Government Partnership.

The statement added that the establishment of the desk officers would improve adherence to laws and procedures, encourage ethical conduct among public servants and strengthen public confidence in government institutions.

It noted that the initiative reaffirmed the government’s determination to build a transparent, accountable and people-centred public service while positioning Kano as a model of good governance through practical reforms. (NAN)
