President Bola Tinubu and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, have congratulated the lawmaker representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency of Kano State, Abdulmumin Jibrin, on his 50th birthday.
Tinubu described Jibrin as a “dependable political ally”, praising his intellectual rigour, entrepreneurial drive and commitment to public service.
The President, in a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said Jibrin’s pursuit of knowledge had shaped his approach to leadership and public service.
“Abdulmumin Jibrin represents a generation of Nigerians whose pursuit of knowledge, enterprise, and public service has been driven by a desire to make a difference,” Tinubu said.
He added, “At 50, he has much to celebrate, but I am confident that his most consequential contributions to our nation are still ahead.”
Tinubu also highlighted Jibrin’s contributions to the National Assembly, where he had chaired committees on Finance, Appropriations, Land Transport, Foreign Affairs, and Housing and Habitat.
He also acknowledged his service as Executive Director of the Federal Housing Authority, saying the lawmaker had contributed to debates and policy formulation on public finance, fiscal policy, infrastructure and housing.
The President wished Jibrin good health, renewed strength and wisdom, urging him to continue mentoring younger Nigerians and contributing to the development of Kano State and Nigeria.
Similarly, Abbas described Jibrin as “one of the sharpest minds” in the National Assembly, citing his academic achievements, business experience and legislative contributions.
According to the Speaker, Jibrin’s four-term membership of the House had been marked by significant contributions to legislative activities and national development.
“Beyond the degrees, positions and accomplishments is a man who has never been afraid to speak his mind,” Abbas said.
He described the lawmaker as “forthright, courageous and independent-minded”, stressing that such qualities were necessary for a healthy legislature.
“A healthy legislature must have room for principled disagreement, robust debate and legislators willing to speak for what they believe is right and in the interest of their constituents,” Abbas said.
Abbas, on behalf of the leadership and members of the House, wished Jibrin good health, renewed strength and greater accomplishments in his service to his constituents and Nigeria.
Jibrin returned to the All Progressives Congress in 2025 after leaving the New Nigeria Peoples Party. He represents Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
