The Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano (BUK), Professor Haruna Musa, paid a courtesy visit to Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University (KHAIRUN), Kano, to express his appreciation to the University for the recently concluded Colloquium organised in his honour.
During the visit, Professor Haruna conveyed his profound gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abdulrashid Garba, and the entire KHAIRUN team for the warm hospitality, support and excellent arrangements extended to him during the colloquium.
A statement signed by the University’s acting Director Public relations and media, Jibrin Ado Dandawaki described the gesture as a demonstration of the strong relationship and mutual respect existing between the two institutions.
The BUK Vice-Chancellor also briefed the KHAIRUN Management on emerging developments in the area of programme accreditation, noting that the Federal Government is working towards introducing more stringent accreditation requirements.
He highlighted policies that may place greater emphasis on institutions possessing their own academic staff, equipment and other essential resources, rather than relying on borrowed personnel or facilities.
Professor Haruna, however, assured KHAIRUN of BUK’s continued support and willingness to provide guidance as the University prepares for future accreditation exercises.
He promised to share the draft accreditation policy with Prof Garba once it is finalised, to facilitate further engagement and professional guidance.
In his response, the Vice-Chancellor of KHAIRUN, Professor Abdulrashid Garba, warmly welcomed the BUK Vice-Chancellor and expressed appreciation for the visit and the continued mentorship and support provided by the University.
Professor Abdulrashid briefed his counterpart on the significant efforts being made by the Proprietors of KHAIRUN to provide the facilities, equipment and other requirements necessary for the University’s academic development and accreditation.
He disclosed that KHAIRUN is substantially prepared for the accreditation of its various programmes, with the exception of the Engineering programmes, where the construction of the required workshop is still ongoing.
He further explained that the necessary equipment for the Engineering programmes has been ordered and is awaiting delivery.
The KHAIRUN Vice-Chancellor sought the continued guidance and mentorship of Bayero University, particularly in navigating the evolving accreditation requirements and strengthening the University’s academic and institutional structures.
The visit further reinforced the strategic relationship between KHAIRUN and BUK, with both institutions reaffirming their commitment to collaboration, mentorship, knowledge sharing and the advancement of quality higher education.
