Governor Yusuf Appoints Ahmed Musa Kano Pillars GM

The Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved the reconstitution of the management board of Kano Pillars Football Club and announced the appointment of Super Eagles legend Ahmed Musa as the club’s new general manager.

This development comes following the expiration of the one-year tenure of the previous board, which guided the team to a respectable 9th-place finish in the 2024/2025 Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

According to a press statement issued by the Director General of Media and Publicity at Government House, Kano, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Friday, April 4, 2025, the decision followed several consultative meetings with stakeholders.

It was agreed that most existing board members be reappointed for another term, with strategic additions to enhance the club’s structure and performance.

“The reappointment is based on performance and the desire to build continuity while making key adjustments to move the club forward,” the statement noted.

The newly constituted 17-member management board is chaired by Ali Muhammad Umar (Nayara), with Salisu Mohammed Kosawa, Idris Malikawa Garu, and others as members.

The board also includes two media directors to improve public engagement and media relations.

A major highlight of the announcement was the appointment of Ahmed Musa as the general manager of the club. A former international and long-time supporter of Kano Pillars, Musa’s appointment marks a bold step towards aligning the club with global best practices in sports management.

“His wealth of experience, international exposure, and leadership both on and off the pitch will reposition Kano Pillars FC as a top contender in Nigerian football,” the statement added.

The state government expressed strong confidence in the board’s ability to consolidate past successes and elevate the club’s performance in the upcoming NPFL season.
