The Federal Government has announced Friday, 29th March and Monday, 1st April 2024 as public holidays to commemorate Good Friday and Easter Monday.

Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, delivering the announcement on behalf of the Federal Government, encouraged Christians and all Nigerians to reflect on the message of sacrifice and love demonstrated by Jesus Christ in his ultimate act of redemption.

Dr. Aishetu Gogo Ndayako, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, reaffirmed the significance of Easter in promoting values such as love, forgiveness, and compassion which are crucial for fostering unity and harmony within society.

Tunji-Ojo emphasised the necessity for Nigerians to embrace these virtues as they have the potential to positively impact the socio-economic landscape of the country by promoting unity, resolving conflicts, and fostering cooperation among citizens.

He also called for acts of charity and generosity towards the less fortunate, aligning with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Furthermore, the Minister urged Nigerians to support President Tinubu’s Administration in its commitment to driving sustainable development and prosperity for all.
