Four Emirate football teams tango in Gombe Emir’s Cup semi final Monday

Four Emirate council football teams would sluggish it out in the first and second semi final of the ongoing Gombe Emir’s Cup tagged:” Kings Cup” 2026.

According to the fixtures released by the Organising Committee announced that Funakaye Emirate council will lock horns with it Late Shehu Abubakar counterpart in the first semi final on Monday 3, August, 2026 at Army Barrack football pitch while Nafada Emirate council will battle Dukku counterpart on Tuesday 4, at the same pitch by 3pm.

Before reaching the semi final stage, Funakaye defeated it’s Gombe counterpart 3-1, Late Shehu Abubakar pipped Tula traditional council team by a lone goal, Nafada beat Pindiga 2-1 while Dukku Emirate council hammered Dadiya traditional council 4-3 in a penalty shoot out after a 1-1 at the end of the regulation time.

The tournament was organized and sponsoring by the Chief Executive Officer of Green White Green outfit, Hon. Ahmad Shuaibu Gara Gombe as part of his contributions not only to the development of the game but also to sustain unity, peace and cordial relationship among various ethnics community in the state.

Football lovers, supporters of the participating teams and members of the media are expected to watch the energy sapping matches.

Dignitaries within and outside Gombe state are expected to attend the closing ceremony of the competition scheduled to hold at Pantami Stadium.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya is expected to lead the special guests which include the Emir of Gombe state, Alhaji Abubakar Shehu Abubakar, the President of the Nigerian Football Federation NFF, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, key football administrators, commissioners, special Advisers, traditional holders among others.
