Gombe Emir’s Cup quarter final soccer tourney begins Saturday

The Quarter-Finals of the Gombe Emir’s Cup 2026 tagged: King’s Cup will continue tomorrow Saturday, 18, July at Deba Township Stadium by 3pm.

According to the fixture released ahead of the knock out stage, Gombe Emirate Council will take on Funakaye Emirate Council for a place in the Semi-Finals.

Both teams have earned their place at this stage, and tomorrow’s result will determine who moves one step closer to the title.

The tournament, was organized and sponsored by Hon. Ahmad Shuaibu Gara Gombe, the Chief Executive Officer of Green White Green outfit as part of his contribution to the development and unity across the state.

The match is expected to be dicey as both sides have skillful and talented young players. Nobody can easily predict the outcome of the result untill after 90 minutes energy sapping encounter.

Supporters of both teams and football fans across Gombe State are expected to come enmass to witness and cheers their darling team.

Other quarter finalists matches, Late Shehu Abubakar team to entertain Tula traditional council on Sunday, July 19, Pindiga versus Nafada Emirate council on July 20 while Dukku Emirate council team to face Dadiya traditional council on July 21.

Some football followers who spoke on the championship have applauded Hon. Ahmad Shuaibu Gara Gombe, who is the former chairman of Gombe state Football Association and Gombe United FC for his foresight and commitment in reviving the Emir’s Cup in the state.

The date for the semi and final matches would be announced later.
