Hundreds of residents of Gwarzo Local Government Area gathered Saturday at the Eid Prayer Ground to offer special prayers for former Kano Deputy Governor Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo following his emergence as the governorship candidate of the National Democratic Coalition (NDC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The prayer session attracted participants from all 10 wards of the local government area and served as a show of support for Gwarzo, whom residents described as a worthy representative of the community.
Leading the congregation, Islamic scholar Ustaz Surajo Lungu spent about 40 minutes reciting verses from the Quran and offering prayers for Gwarzo’s success and for a peaceful electoral process.
“We are grateful to Allah for elevating one of our sons to this position,” Lungu said. “We pray that He grants him strength, wisdom and guidance to serve the people effectively and emerge victorious in the 2027 election.”
Participants also offered prayers for the leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, in recognition of what they described as his support and mentorship of Gwarzo.
The gathering included prayers for peace, unity and prosperity in Kano State, with speakers urging residents to continue promoting harmony and peaceful coexistence.
Community leaders, including Malam Garba Sarki and Engineer Abdulkadir Ahmed Getso, described Gwarzo’s emergence as a significant milestone for the area and expressed confidence in his leadership abilities and commitment to public service.
They said the large turnout reflected the strong grassroots support he enjoys across the local government area and reaffirmed the community’s backing for his governorship aspiration.
The event concluded with prayers for lasting peace in Kano State and Nigeria, as well as calls for issue-based campaigns and peaceful participation in the democratic process ahead of the 2027 elections.
