Kano Assembly suspends lawmaker for allegedly criticizing Gov Yusuf

The Kano State House of Assembly has suspended Yusuf Aliyu, the lawmaker representing Nassarawa Local Government Area and a member of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, for three months over remarks allegedly considered insulting to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

The Assembly announced the suspension during its plenary session, directing the lawmaker to stay away from all legislative activities throughout the suspension period.

The decision followed recent circulation of a video showing Yusuf Aliyu holding a rabbit by its ears while making insulting remarks allegedly directed at Kano State governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

The Assembly had earlier set up a committee to investigate the matter before suspending the lawmaker.
