Kano flags off distribution of essential hospital tracer equipment to improve quality healthcare delivery

The Kano State Government has officially launched the distribution of hospital tracer equipment to health facilities across the state as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen quality healthcare delivery.

The equipment was formally flagged off by the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, alongside the Director General of the Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board (KSPHCMB), Professor Salisu Ahmad Ibrahim.

The initiative received support from WCA Health TA Connect and Pathfinder International.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf appreciated the support of the two development partners and urged Primary Healthcare Centre Coordinators and facility managers to safeguard the equipment through regular inventory and proper maintenance.

He also directed facility in-charges to develop effective utilization plans and ensure that all facilities conducting deliveries establish Neonatal Corners to strengthen newborn care and reduce neonatal mortality.

In his remarks, Professor Salisu Ahmad Ibrahim commended Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf and the Honourable Commissioner for their unwavering commitment to strengthening the health sector through sustained investment in essential healthcare commodities. He disclosed that Kano State has reduced its maternal mortality ratio from 1,025 to 588 deaths per 100,000 live births, attributing the achievement to strategic government interventions and strong collaboration with development partners.

The distribution of the hospital tracer equipment underscores the Kano State Government’s commitment to equipping health facilities with the tools required to improve the quality of maternal, newborn and primary healthcare services, while accelerating progress toward better health outcomes for all citizens.
