Thousands of Kano residents on Wednesday welcomed the state Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf as he returned from the 2025 Hajj operations.
The aircraft that brought the governor and his team from Saudi Arabia via Lagos landed around 2:50 pm.
SolaceBase reports that the mammoth crowd that accompanied the governor from the airport on a journey of less than twenty minutes to the government house through Murtala Mohammed way lasted over five hours.
Elated Governor Abba Yusuf was seen waving to the residents in a joyous mood.
Speaking to newsmen on the arrival of the state governor, the commissioner for Environment and Climate Change, Dr. Dahiru Muhammad Hashim, explained how happy he was with the mammoth crowd that welcomed the governor.
“The mammoth crowd that welcomed His Excellency today at the Airport and along his route to the Kano State Government is a testament that Kano citizens are indeed satisfied with His Excellency’s transformation and infrastructural development.
“Notable achievements of His Excellency, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf include the revival of 26 institutions that were abandoned by the previous administration, continuation of the local and foreign Kwankwasiyya scholarship scheme, upgrading 11 PHCs to general hospitals, payment of SSCE fees for 141,175 students, development of Kano State Climate Change Policy, ongoing construction of solar powered boreholes, and planting of 3 million seedlings, etc
