The Adamawa Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has set October 28, 2023, as the date for its decision on the litigation challenging Governor Ahmadu Fintiri’s election.
Remember that the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate, Senator Aishatu Binani Dahiru, had petitioned against the announcement of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the victor of the March 2023 general election.
In addition to claims of widespread violations of electoral law and fraudulent voting methods, APC and Binani argued in their appeal that the Tribunal should verify Hudu Yunusa Ari’s proclamation declaring her the election winner.
The Peoples Democratic Party and its candidate, Fintiri also filed a motion asking the tribunal to dismiss the case brought by the APC and its candidate Binani.
In June, News Point Nigeria also reported that Binani had urged the Tribunal to deliver its judgement before the suspended Resident Electoral Commissioner, Hudu Ari, is prosecuted.
Recall the Adamawa State High Court of Justice has scheduled the arraignment of Hudu, for November 6th, 2023.
Hudu faces multiple charges including announcing false electoral results, breaching his oath of neutrality, disorderly conduct during elections, inciting disturbance, and personating a public servant.
