Sports commission officials, driver, escape death preparing for zonal eliminations

Two officials of Kano State Sports Commission (KSSC) have escaped death following a fatal accident on their way to Kaduna for the Northwest zonal eliminations of the upcoming National Sports Festival in Enugu.

The incident occured after Tashar Yari
(located near Zaria, Kaduna State) and approximately 125 kilometers from Kano along the Kano/Kaduna Expressway where the vehicle conveying the officials was damaged.

The officials involved in the accident include the commission’s accountant, a board member, Ismail Falgore and their driver.

The victims who were admitted at a hospital and later discharged have all returned to Kano for more medical check up and proper rest.

Speaking on the incident, the Executive chairman of KSSC, Alhaji Muhammad Tukur Babangida thanked God for saving the life of the officials.

Babangida, while praying to Allah to continue to safeguard the state contingents, said that the present administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf is seriously committed and concerned about the safety of the state athletes, coaches and officials.

It would be recalled that Kano is competing alongside, Kebbi, Sokoto, Zamfara, Katsina, Jigawa and the host state Kaduna in the zonal eliminations ahead of the festival proper in Enugu between November and December this year.

Some of teams events that would be competed for include football, basketball, volleyball and beach volleyball.
