Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Monday swore in Abdul-Ganiyu Obasa as chairman of Agege Local Government Area.
The new chairman is the son of the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa.
Abdul-Ganiyu Obasa, who had been serving as acting chairman, was sworn in following the resignation of the former chairman, Tunde Azeez.
Azeez, in a letter read by the Leader of the House, Adeshina Haruna, said he stepped down due to persistent health challenges that had affected his ability to discharge his duties.
At the ceremony, Sanwo-Olu urged the newly sworn-in chairman to prioritise community development and align his administration with the state government’s vision.
“You must work with your institutions and traditional leaders. You now have the mandate to reconcile your people and bridge the divide between policy and local realities,” he added.
Sanwo-Olu said leadership in Lagos State was defined by discipline and measurable outcomes, stressing that performance and dedication to duty remained central to public service.
In his response, the younger Obasa thanked the governor for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to uphold the core values and standards associated with public service in Lagos State.
