The Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN), has inducted 39 pharmaceutical graduates of the Bayero University Kano (BUK), as Doctors of Pharmacy (Pharm D).
The Registrar of the council, Ibrahim Ahmed, stated this during the Oath Taking/Induction for 2023 Pharm D graduates from the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the university, on Thursday in Kano.
Represented by Anthony Idoko, Director Education and Training, PCN, Ahmed said the event is one of the criteria among other requirements stipulated by PCN Establishment Act, 2022, to be fulfill prior to registration as a pharmacist.
“As you take oath today and become inducted members. I urge the inductees to maintain high ethical standards and
leadership qualities.
“Follow the guidelines set by the PCN and strive to be exemplary professionals in delivering quality pharmaceutical services for sustainable healthcare in Nigeria,” he said.
According to him, the inductees are required to undergo a one-year internship training at the PCN accredited centers to align their training with global best practices.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sagir Adamu-Abbas, said the university has been at the forefront of pushing the boundaries of knowledge, particularly in the pharmaceutical sciences.
He congratulated the graduates highlighting their perseverance and academic dedication.
“Your journey of learning and growth does not end here. You are part of a dynamic field that is constantly evolving-one that requires you to continuously adapt, innovate, and contribute to new discoveries.
“Our collaborations with health institutions and regulatory bodies ensure that we are solving real-world.
“In this new era of personalised medicine, pharmacy is not just about dispensing medication but about creating solutions challenges,” he said.
Adamu-Abbad reiterated commitment towards addressing African developmental challenges through cutting-edge research, knowledge transfer and training of high quality graduates.
Gov. Abba Kabir-Yusuf of Kano State, enjoined the inductees to adhere to professional guidelines, and to be ambassadors of the profession and the state.
The governor was represented by the Commissioner for Health, Dr Abubakar Labaran-Yusuf.
NAN reports that the induction ceremony was attended by the Dean Faculty of Pharmaceutical Science, Prof. Ibrahim Adamu-Yakasai, Pharm.Dr. M M Zango, Chairman of the occasion and Prof. Ahmed Tijjani- Mora, Kayayen Sarkin Musulmi, among others.
Highlights of the event include award presentation to the best graduating student, Zubair Abdulkadir.(NAN)
