Court Sentences Ex-Power Minister, Saleh Mamman to 75 Years in Prison

‎A Federal High Court in Abuja has sentenced Nigeria’s former Minister of Power Saleh Mamman to 75 years’ imprisonment for a ₦33.8 billion fraud and money‑laundering case linked to the Zungeru and Mambilla hydroelectric power projects.

‎The trial judge, James Omotosho, convicted Mamman on all 12 counts of conspiracy and money laundering brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

‎The jail terms on the 12 counts were ordered to run consecutively, producing the total sentence of 75 years. The court also directed that the sentence start from the date of his arrest, as he was sentenced in absentia.

‎The court ordered all security agencies to arrest Mamman wherever he is found and bring him into custody.

‎The judge directed forfeiture to the Federal Government of all recovered monies and properties, and ordered Mamman to refund the outstanding balance of the ₦22 billion traced to the Zungeru and Mambilla projects.
