The Network Against Child Trafficking, Abuse and Labour (NACTAL), Kano State Chapter, on Friday hosted its National President for a one-day official visit and consultative meeting with members and key stakeholders in the state.

The meeting, which brought together representatives of 20 member organisations, provided a platform to review the chapter’s activities, achievements, challenges, and strategic direction while strengthening collaboration among members.

In his welcome address, the Kano State Chapter Coordinator Muhammad Ali Mashi highlighted the chapter’s strong working relationship with the Kano State Ministry of Women Affairs, the Ministry of Justice, and the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP). He disclosed that discussions were ongoing with the Kano State Ministry of Information to enhance the visibility and activities of NACTAL in the state.

The Coordinator also raised growing concerns over organ harvesting, calling for the establishment of collaboration with the Kano State Ministry of Health to strengthen awareness and prevention efforts.

Delivering a goodwill message, the State Secretary Aremu Adeniyi emphasised the importance of partnership, active membership participation, and collective support in strengthening the chapter.

In his remarks, the National President Abdulganiyu Abubakar stressed the need for unity among members and encouraged organisations to build their institutional capacities within their respective thematic areas. He also informed members about plans to conduct elections that would ensure broader national representation within NACTAL’s leadership structure at both state and national levels.

During the consultative session, members engaged in constructive discussions aimed at improving the network’s effectiveness. Key issues raised included the need for greater transparency in the selection of participants for capacity-building programmes and workshops, increased awareness of NACTAL activities among members, regular monthly state meetings, and improved information sharing on contact tracing and collaborative interventions.

At the end of the meeting, resolutions were reached, including strengthening monthly state chapter meetings to improve coordination and communication, maintaining greater transparency in the nomination of members for trainings and workshops, and pursuing collaboration with the Kano State Ministry of Health to address emerging issues relating to organ harvesting.

The National President presented membership certificates to both new and existing member organisations in recognition of their commitment to the objectives of NACTAL.

In his closing remarks, the National President appreciated members for their commitment and active participation. The State Secretary delivered the Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to the National President, members, and stakeholders for making the visit and meeting successful.
