The Nigeria Police Force has apprehended two notorious bandits and kidnap kingpins responsible for terrorising communities across Katsina, Zamfara, Niger, and Kwara States.

On December 19, operatives from the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team (FID–IRT), in collaboration with the Kwara State Police Command, intercepted 26-year-old Abubakar Usman (alias Siddi) and 30-year-old Shehu Mohammadu (alias Gide) along the Komen–Masallaci axis in Kaiama Local Government Area.

Recovered items include an AK-47 rifle loaded with 20 rounds of ammunition, ₦500,000 in cash suspected to be ransom proceeds, and a brand-new red Honda motorcycle valued at ₦1.85 million, reportedly purchased with ransom money.

Investigations indicate the suspects are members of a syndicate involved in banditry, kidnappings, and arms trafficking. Usman was recently featured in a viral social media video flaunting weapons and cash.

Both suspects are cooperating with the police to help apprehend other gang members and recover additional arms.

Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun commended the operatives for their professionalism and reaffirmed the Force’s commitment to eradicating banditry and kidnapping. Members of the public are urged to provide timely information to aid security efforts.
