Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have killed two suspected Lakurawa terrorists and recovered weapons after thwarting a planned attack on Sabarumawa community in Kebbi State.
The operation took place on Saturday, June 27, 2026, according to a statement issued on Sunday, June 28, 2026, by Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, Media Information Officer, Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA.
The military said the operation followed credible intelligence that armed terrorists were preparing to attack residents of Sabarumawa.
Troops of the Chief of Army Staff Intervention Battalion 7 swiftly deployed and laid a tactical ambush along the suspected route.
The statement said troops engaged the suspects in a fierce gun battle after they approached the ambush position.
The military reported that they killed two suspected terrorists, while others fled into a nearby forest under sustained military pressure.
Security forces later searched the area and recovered two AK-47 rifles, magazines, 143 rounds of ammunition, and one motorcycle.
“The successful operation followed credible intelligence indicating that the terrorists were planning an attack on the Sabarumawa community,” the statement said.
