Troops of Sector 2 under the Joint Task Force Northwest, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 22 kidnapped persons during separate security operations in Sokoto State.

According to a statement issued by the Media Information Officer of Joint Task Force Northwest Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the successful operations were carried out following credible intelligence and distress alerts regarding terrorist activities in the affected locations.

The statement noted that the operations reflect the determination of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to protect lives and property while ensuring a safe environment for citizens to go about their legitimate activities without fear.

The first rescue mission took place along the Sabon Birni–Shinkafi Road near Kura Mota Village, where terrorists reportedly intercepted two commercial vehicles. During the attack, one civilian was killed while several passengers were abducted.
