Atiku Promises Full Scholarship to Niger Mining Youth After Viral Video

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has promised to sponsor the education of a young miner from Niger State, Yusuf Aliyu, up to the highest level.

Atiku said his “heart breaks” whenever he watches a video of the young man, whose footage went viral on social media after he spoke about his experience at a mining site in Niger State.

The video gained widespread attention following reports of the deaths of 37 miners in the state, an incident that has sparked public concern and calls for a thorough investigation.

Reacting to the situation, Atiku expressed concern over the circumstances surrounding the young miner and others involved in the incident, saying he could not simply watch the situation without taking action.

He subsequently pledged to provide Yusuf Aliyu with a scholarship to enable him to continue his education through university and to the highest level of education he is able to attain.

The former Vice President’s pledge comes amid continued calls for answers over the deaths of the miners and the circumstances surrounding their detention by security personnel in Niger State.
