Founder of Next Frontiers Nigeria Calls for Public Support in Environmental Development

The Founder and Chairperson of Next Frontiers Nigeria (NFN), Amb. Dr. Fatima Usman Nazir, has called on Nigerians to give maximum cooperation to government efforts aimed at developing environmentally sustainable cities and villages across the country.

Speaking with members of the press during the Nigerian Environmental Sustainability Summit (NESt) 2026 at the Abuja Continental Hotel, Abuja, Dr. Fatima emphasized the importance of collective action in addressing environmental challenges and promoting sustainable development.

She highlighted key recommendations and focus areas discussed during the summit, including, Sustainable waste management strategies, Circular economy opportunities in Nigeria, Green investments and innovation, Strengthening environmental governance, Climate action and environmental sustainability The summit, themed “Unlocking Nigeria’s Green Economy Driving Climate Action and Environmental Governance,” brought together policymakers, environmental experts, innovators, youth leaders, and other stakeholders committed to building a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable Nigeria.

Dr. Fatima noted that the event provided a valuable platform for engaging with professionals and thought leaders dedicated to shaping the future of environmental sustainability in the country.

She stated that environmental protection and climate action require the active participation of government, private sector organizations, communities, and citizens to achieve lasting impact.

Reflecting on the first day of the summit, she commended the strong participation of young people who demonstrated commitment, knowledge, and passion in advocating for environmental sustainability and climate peace. She also acknowledged the contributions of distinguished policymakers and environmental advocates, including Hon. Princess Margaret Elayo, Honourable Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Nasarawa State, and Dr. Murtala Adogi Mohammed, whose insights highlighted the importance of collaboration between government institutions and young people in advancing sustainable development goals.

According to Dr. Fatima, the summit moved beyond discussions to practical strategies and accountability, reinforcing the message that climate action cannot wait and that effective environmental governance must lead the way. Together, we are not just discussing solutions; we are shaping the future of environmental sustainability in Nigeria, she said.
