In a significant development, former Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello has requested the Federal High Court in Abuja to transfer his ongoing case with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to Kogi State.

The EFCC has arraigned Bello on allegations of an N82 billion fraud, with the case currently presided over by Justice Nwite.

During Thursday’s court session, Bello’s lawyer, Adeola Adedipe, argued that since the alleged offence occurred during Bello’s tenure as Governor of Kogi, it would be appropriate for the trial to be held within the state. Adedipe emphasized that local jurisdiction is crucial for a fair trial and for the convenience of all parties involved.
